To Friends and Families who would like to experience the beauty and hospitality at Geneva On The Lake,
with delight and gratitude, beginning at 12 noon on Thursday, June 18, 2020, Geneva On The Lake will reopen.
Amidst fresh air, sunshine and great attentiveness, our wonderful staff has been preparing to again welcome and serve guests.
Providing friendly service and a safe, comfortable experience for all, will continue to be on top of our minds,
informed, of course, by the new practices and protocols that are now expected.
Safeguards and practices will be in place to do everything possible, to assure every guest their comfort and a relaxing time
in the open beauty of the villa, gardens, grounds and fresh country air that favors so much of life in Geneva and the Finger Lakes.
For those who have been with us before, you will see many familiar faces and hear familiar voices.
Except for the Fitness Room, (which should open shortly), all facilities will be open at the resort.
Seating for dining will be more spread out, as required, to meet everyone’s comfort and expectations.
Outdoor dining at Geneva On The Lake will be an especially welcomed experience this summer!
The view overlooking the restored formal gardens, pool and Seneca Lake, is unforgettable.
Many lawn games, secluded walks, lakeside vistas and moonlit nights add to the allure.
Welcome to all for the great days of summer ahead.
All of the Staff &
William J. Schickel
At Geneva On The Lake, luxury and beauty are perfected in every accommodation, from the stunning architecture and thoughtful amenities to the warm hospitality that extends beyond the comfort of your room. A landmark on the National Register of Historic Places and long-time AAA Four-Diamond Award Winner in hospitality, Geneva On The Lake was founded by Norbert H. Schickel Jr. in 1981 to be “an oasis, a little island of beauty, peace and friendliness in a busy world.”
Truly a haven for visitors, the Italianate villa offers 29 guest suites and studios, all appointed with beautifully handcrafted Stickley furniture, a kitchen, Renaissance architecture and modern comforts, some featuring lake views, wood-burning fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs and cathedral ceilings. Two-story townhouses situated 25 feet from the main villa provide spacious comfort, each featuring private furnished lakeside patios and two bedrooms, perfect for a reunion or family vacation.
Indulge in a three-course candlelight dinner at Lancellotti’s our renowned restaurant, featuring live music, farm fresh local foods, and wines and spirits of the Finger Lakes. Unwind with a glass of wine and a game of chess in the Parlor Bar. Dine on The Terrace in warmer weather, stroll the restored formal gardens or enjoy a lawn game. Take a dip in the picturesque 70-foot swimming pool, or relax in Adirondack chairs with a spectacular view of Seneca Lake. “We stayed at the majestic Geneva On The lake hotel. Our comfortable suite looked out on to formal gardens that unfurl almost to the water’s edge, where huge cottonwoods rustle in the breeze like wind chimes. The terra cotta tile roof, Palladian windows, Ionic columns, and classical sculptures give Geneva On The Lake an air of antiquity, but the solicitous service is as American as a Cortland apple.” – Gourmet
“Tranquility and good taste characterize the intellectual fare found at Geneva On The Lake, a smallish inn tucked away on the outskirts of Geneva, New York and facing the pellucid Seneca Lake.” – Post & Opinion (Indianapolis, Chicago, Louisville)
“Towering pines shade the grounds, creating inviting walkways for thoughtful ambles and intimate conversations. A glider swing beckons from one stretch of lawn; a classical colonnade from another.” – Finger Lakes Wine Gazette

“Located just a few hours from New York City, this luxurious European-style vacation resort welcomes weary urban dwellers with more than just a quiet place to unwind. The property, situated in the heart of the Finger Lakes district, also has spectacular views of Seneca Lake. The scenery is especially lovely from the Lancellotti Dining Room, and the food is especially delicious.” – Bon Appetit
“No question that my favorite, The Loft, with its lovely cherry mission furniture, is at the top end. It has a cathedral ceiling, a loft furnished with chairs, rockers, and big floor cushions, all positioned to look out at the lake…the formal gardens, and the pool.”
